Celebrating Volunteer Appreciation Month with our friends at QUAC

Members of the Queer Utah Aquatic Club (QUAC) are making waves with their volunteer efforts at the Youth Resource Center in Salt Lake City. The YRC provides support and resources for unsheltered youth, and QUAC has been eager to make a difference.
Beyond their impact in the pool, QUAC's presence at the center sends a powerful message of inclusivity and support for LGBTQ+ youth. By volunteering their time and resources, QUAC is showing that everyone deserves access to resources and opportunities, regardless of their background or circumstances.
"Volunteering allows us to look outside our organization," says Vice President of QUAC, John. "Volunteering helps us to see others who may be different than us on the surface. It provides a greater understanding of what it means to have empathy and connect with other people."
QUAC members periodically meet at the YRC to cook and serve meals. Whether they use ingredients from the kitchen's fully-stocked pantry or donate food items, each meal is made with love. They also host fundraisers where money obtained from certain swim practices is donated to various nonprofits and their causes, including the YRC.
