Volunteers of America, Utah is a human services nonprofit with 150 paid professional staff who serve more than 11,000 people across the state each year through a dozen programs addressing homelessness, substance abuse, domestic violence, senior services, and volunteer opportunities.
The individuals we serve are similar to us. The individuals we serve may have grown up in your neighborhood, attended your school or perhaps are family, co-workers or friends.
We offer services for homeless adults through our Homeless Outreach Program and to homeless youth through our Street Outreach Program and Homeless Youth Resource Center.
We have two facilities for detoxification from drugs and alcohol. The Adult Detoxification Center is a residential center that provides a safe environment for detoxification as well and 12-step meetings, case management services, and referrals for treatment. At the Center for Women and Children homeless women can bring their children and get the support and treatment they need to begin the journey to recovery.
In operation for 8 years now, the Volunteers of America, Utah, Substance Abuse DayTreatment Program assists low-income individuals to break free from addiction through counseling, group therapy, recreation groups and life skills training.
To assist in the transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency Volunteers of America, Utah also offers assistance in finding housing for individuals recovering from addictions. The Housing Program allows individuals and their families a period of two years to transition from homelessness to permanent housing.
Volunteers of America, Utah now operates the Cornerstone Counseling Center, which includes our Adult Substance Abuse Treatment, Prevention, Adolescent Substance Abuse Treatment, Domestic Violence Counseling, and our Children's Care Center programs.
We also operate Senior Service programs throughout Utah. These programs, for individuals age 55 and older, provide opportunities to make a difference in local communities. The Retired and Senior Volunteer Program operates in Emery, Davis, and Tooele Counties. The Foster Grandparent Program, for low-income seniors, operates in Tooele, Emery, Carbon, Grand, and San Juan Counties.
